10th International Workshop on Layered and Nanostructured Materials (IWLNM26)

The 10th edition of the International Workshop on Layered and Nanostructured Materials (IWLNM26), will be held from 25 to 28 August 2026 in Mulhouse, France, a dynamic and cultural city located in the eastern part of France, close to Germany and Switzerland, city known for its industrial heritage, outstanding technical museums and colourful historic center.

The conference takes up the legacy of previous editions (2006-Alessandria, Italy; 2008-Vercelli, Italy; 2010-Bochum, Germany; 2012-Campinas, Brazil; 2014-Mulhouse, France; 2016-Kutna Hora, Czech Republic; 2018- Krakov, Poland; 2022-Toledo, Spain,  2024-Perugia, Italy ) focused on the synthesis, characterisation and applications of lamellar materials such as hydrotalcites, clays, metal phosphates/phosphonates, graphite , MXenes and nanostructured materials, including silicates and zeolites, MOFs, transition metal oxides and organic-inorganic hybrids.

The 10th edition is co-organized by researchers and academic staff from the Institute of Materials Science of Mulhouse (IS2M, CNRS–University of Haute-Alsace), France, the Department of Science and Technological Innovation (DISIT) of the University of Eastern Piedmont, Italy, the Institute of Chemistry of Clermont-Ferrand (ICCF, CNRS–University of Clermont Auvergne), France  and the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of Materials of Strasbourg (IPCMS, CNRS–University of Strasbourg), France.

The following topics have been selected:

  • Design of layered compounds and nanostructured materials, including the use of AI as a tool,
  • Characterization and modeling,
  • Functional and multifunctional materials,
  • Applications in the fields of energy, environment, health, and composite and nanocomposite materials.

This edition, bringing  together researchers from academia and industry as well as students, provides a unique forum to drive forward the design, synthesis and applications of cutting-edge materials to address environmental and societal challenges in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
